Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between polymer-grade and chemical-grade propylene?
Polymer-grade propylene is typically 99.5% or purer with tight impurity limits for polypropylene catalysts; chemical-grade, around 92–96%, is used for derivatives such as cumene, acrylonitrile and oxo-alcohols.
How are olefins shipped?
Ethylene, propylene and butadiene are shipped as liquefied gases in refrigerated or semi-pressurised gas carriers or ISO tanks, which requires suitable terminals and storage at both ends.
